We face this issue because, in the latest operating system such as Vista and Windows 7, Microsoft ships the device drivers of all hardware such as motherboard, lan card, display, disk drives etc released as on the date of release of the operating system. But at the same time, the operating systems released before the release of these laptop/desktop/server hardware does not have the drivers for these devices. Hence we face the problem of drivers with old operating systems in the latest hardware either it be a laptop or a desktop or a server. We have to contact the OS/hardware vendor for the device drivers, sometimes which may be made available by them.
